Donate Books

The Rupununi Learners Foundation is a non-profit corporation that is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. All book donations (that is, ”in kind” donations) to RLF are tax-deductible for income tax purposes at their “fair market value” (that is, their purchase price if bought new or used).

Guide for Donations and Purchases
The following is intended as a brief, usable guide for donations and purchases.

1. English language, reading level K – 8.

2. Hardcover only, “school & library binding” preferred.

New books preferred, however used books (including ex-library books) in “Very Good” or better condition, are also gratefully accepted.

“Very Good” describes a nice copy of a book, lightly used. There may be slightly bumped corners, edges or spine ends. Covers may be lightly rubbed or soiled; there may be minor nicks or scratches.

When you buy through our Wish List, Amazon sends us a rebate.

Please click here to view the library wish list, in alphabetical order by title. More information about each book, and an easy way to order and send them, is on the wish list for the Yupukari library posted at Amazon's Rupununi Learners Library Wish List.

How the books have been selected
The books on the wish list, like the 6500+ books already collected for shipment, have been hand picked in accordance with a preliminary Collection Development Policy that will be the purview of the Library Committee, once formed.

If you wish to donate books, please ensure that each one conforms to the Collection Development Policy. Shipping from the US to the Rupununi is such a significant expense that irrelevant materials are an unwelcome burden, far from your good intentions.
